Louisa’s Funeral

The following evening, was the funeral of Louisa Baxter. Her body laid to rest in the family crypt, and the funeral was attended by Shane, David, Matt and…of course, Johnathon had turned up with his young daughter. There was no mistaking the look on the face of Johnathon, as he watched Shane pretend to grieve. Well that was how it appeared. Shane had made sure to leave Brandi at home, so as not to alert suspicions that Louisa didn’t mean as much to him as many would like to have thought. There was a band that played at the end of the service, and Shane individually thanked everyone, but stopped when he got to Johnathon and his little girl.

“And here I thought you fell down a well. Again..sorry for your loss, Johnathon.” Shane said with a look of remorse. Johnathon wouldn’t have it. “Don’t think this is over, Shane. You’ll get what is coming to you.” He said with warning. Shane brushed his hand over Lacey’s head, and then beamed. “Oh…but I already got it. And she’s delicious.” At this, Johnathon knew…he knew that Shane had Carmen. “And before you get any ideas…watch your back, and…that of your daughter. Hate to see anything happen to her. Such a pretty thing.” That said, Shane walked away, back to his limo, while Johnathon festered. “Son of a bitch. He cursed, holding his daughter close to him.

Shane’s House

Coming through the front doors, Shane casually removed his jacket, and tossed it on a nearby settee as Brandi came skipping out of the kitchen, wearing only a large black t shirt. “You’re back!” she said with such enthusiasm. Shane shrugged, and put his hand out to stop her from hugging him.

“I’m going down to check on our guest. Go…dress properly, you look like a street rat.”

Dissapointed, Brandi skulked away, as Shane picked up a box, and then headed down to the sub chamber, that was located below the mansion.

Carmen’s cell

The numbered sequence was tapped into the keypad and the door swung open as Shane entered. There was a definate change to him, especially around her. He placed down the box on the bed, then…he unlocked the chain that held her to the wall. Without a word, he started to unbutton his shirt, and then pulled it apart, to reveal his chest all the while staring at Carmen. Taking out a knife, he sliced open a cut across his chest, and his blood started to trickle down his upper torso.

“Rise….you must feed to get better.”

It had been 24 hours since Shane had been with Carmen. 24 hours since he’d infused her with his own blood and left her. She knew his blood was changing her, the one thing she didn’t want happening. But it was too late for it now. She would have to learn to live with this new aspect of herself. She could feel her incisors begin to lengthen and grow.

Alternating between hot and feverish and cold and freezing, she huddled under the single blanket, hoping someone came to check on her soon.

And she hungered…

She dozed off and on, and was sure she was hearing things when the door opened. She looked up through blurred vision and saw Shane enter the room with a box in his hands.

He set the box on the bed, then surprised her by removing the chain that held her to the wall. She shivered under his regard of her. Watched as he unbuttoned his shirt and pulled it open to reveal his chest. She could smell the blood flowing beneath his skin and she began to feel a different kind of hunger. He took out a knife and sliced open a cut across his chest, blood flowing down his torso.

“Rise….you must feed to get better.”

She was wracked with another cold chill as she sat up slowly, pulling the blanket tight around her shoulders. Her skin was clammy and pale, eyes bloodshot and her hair was lanky and dull. And she was miserable.

But her continued survival now rested on his shoulders. And despite what he’d done to her, she wanted to continue to live…in whatever way she could.

She moved closer to him, the scent of blood drawing her in. Hesitantly, her tongue slipped from between her lips and across the cut he’d made on his body. There was an explosion of flavor across her taste buds. She swallowed, feeling the tiny bit she had collected start to warm her freezing limbs. Again, she got another taste, feeling a bit bolder. Her eyes closed in shame. She hated depending on others, but there was no stopping now. Slipping off the bed until she was resting on her knees, she placed her lips over the cut, her fangs puncturing his skin for a better grip as she suckled from him, like a newborn babe.

And in a sense she was…

Carmen’s cell

Shane looked down upon her with an element of pity. She was indeed suffering for the past twenty four hours, and he timed this feed, on purpose. As the warmth of his blood ran down his chest, he waited for her to do as he commanded. It was for her own good. It was when she obeyed and the licking of her lips, that Shane started to show a small smile. Course, when she started to lick, he let out a satisfied growl, which grew, as she used her new fangs, to plunge into his chest. Gasping, he almost fell back, and had to steady himself, as he continued to struggle to breathe. The shock of her actions, was exhilarating, and soon, he regulated his breathing, and with his right hand, stroked the back of her head. An action to show he approved.

His voice seemed rougher, husky, as his eyes changed. She was actually good for him. Not when they fought so viciously, but this…closeness, this bond…was what they both needed. When she had had her fill, he reached for her under her shoulders, to lift her up, and then kiss her forehead.

“The box….your clothes.” He said softly.

She felt his hand upon her head and whimpered slightly as she continued to feed from him. When he felt that she’d had enough, he gently pushed her away, reaching to pull her to her feet. He pressed a kiss to her forhead, surprising her with the gentleness of the gesture.

He pointed to the box. “The box….your clothes.”

She looked between him and the box. He had gone to her apartment? Who was this guy?

She opened the box and pulled out several articles of clothing, hugging them to her body with her eyes closed. A lone tear slipped down her cheek. She hadn’t spoken a word since the day before, wasn’t sure what she should say to him. Instead, she turned and went into the bathroom, pushing the door slightly closed for a bit of privacy, but leaving it open enough so she could hear him. She removed her grimy and torn clothing, dropping them to the floor and kicking them away.

She turned on the shower, testing the water until it warmed before stepping in. The warmth of the spray warmed her further and she bowed her head, letting the jets massage her shoulders.

And again her emotions overwhelmed her, and she couldn’t stop the sob that escaped her throat. She fell to her hands and knees, water pouring over her skin and mingling with her tears as she cried out her upset and distress.

Shane allowed her to take her clothes, and go to the bathroom without being followed, or chastised. It really was a strange change in Shane’s persona, as from how he was just days before. The big question is….why? If one was to understand Shane it all comes down to choice. All these years, he made her life hell. Truth, he was testing her. Over and over. Other women all threw themselves at him, never ever would he see them as an equal. The likes of his blood dolls, were simply food to him, in pretty packaging. What he sought, was a woman that could match him. A fighter, a woman that could give as good as she coul get.

His efforts to gain Carmen, could be seen as unorthodox, extreme. But he was never one for doing things by halves.

Shane listened to Carmen in the shower as she sobbed. He had extremely good hearing, and moved closer to the door of the bathroom without stepping in. He didn’t have too. She deserved this at least. When she had gotten dressed, and emerged, he would be found leaning against the wall, his scar on his chest having healed.

“Feeling better?”

Crying was cathartic for her. It cleansed her heart and mind and seemed to take a weight off of her shoulders. She was slowly beginning to gain acceptance to what had happened to her. It was her own fault for getting herself in this mess in the first place. She may not like it, but she was beginning to accept it.

Gaining her feet, she finished her shower, roughly drying her hair until hung in damp strands around her face. She put on the clean clothes, feeling somewhat human once more. She stood at the bathroom door, ready, scared but determined, to take that step into her new future. Taking a deep breath, she opened the door fully, surprised to see Shane waiting for her. He must have heard her crying if he was still here.

Embarrassed, she ducked her head, tucking her hair behind her ears.

“Feeling better?” he asked in his deep timbre.

Still not feeling brave enough to look him in the eyes, afraid of what she would see, she simply nodded her head. She managed a quick glance at him and saw that the cut he’d made on his chest had healed. She couldn’t help but admire his physique. He really was a good looking man. And she had been intimate with him.

She blushed at the direction of her thoughts and crossed her arms to hide how nervous she was around him now.

“Thank you…for the clothes.” she whispered, speaking for the first time. “I…um…yeah…just…thanks.”

Shane was reasonably pleased with her response. Though she was yet to look up at him, he put that down to her trying to process everything that had happened to her. Shane folded his arms. His face was stern for now, and you might question why? He had won. It had come at a cost. The death of Louisa, and then Donna. But they were just blood dolls, and not chosen by him to be sired. He had chosen Carmen for that long ago, and he had to admit, the chase for her, only wanted her all the more.

Carmen looked simply beautiful in the clothes that he had selected from her wardrobe, and he did take note of how she hugged those simple belongings when she took them from the box. There was a surprise in another part of the house, which he would show her…when she was ready to see it. Shane let his arms fall to his sides, and then walked to the door, and simply opened it. He then stepped back, and gestured.

“You’re now free to go.”

Just like that?

Why would he do such a thing?

He seemed to be pleased with her reply and he did someting that surprised her even further. He went to the door, opened it and stepped back with a gesture.

“You’re now free to go.”

And now she did look up at him, shock written all over her face. He was letting her leave? Just like that? To what purpose?

He had pursued her all over the place, attacked her on every front, cost her her job, her friends and her self-respect…to simply let her go?

Even more confused, she started for the entrance, walking slowly, mulling things over in her mind. But the main question on her mind was why?

Stepping into the corridor, she took approximately 10 steps before she stopped. She didn’t turn around to look at him, kept her back to him as she straightened to her full height. She realized something about herself. All her life, she had been looking for someone who she could call her equal. Someone who would challenge her and be challenged in return. She didn’t want to date a whimp, it was the reason why so many of her past relationships ended in failure. None of them could compete with her, or they tried and failed and hated her for it.

But Shane…he’d challenged her like no man had ever challenged her before.

“No.” she stated in a clear voice. Her back was still toward him.

One simple word. No. Defiance had raised its head, as she had done. Shane had followed her, and both watched and heard her say the word. At first you have to ask yourself, why would he go to all this trouble, just to let her go…like that? Was this some sort of game? A hunt where the hunter simply releases his prize once he had tagged it? His footsteps approached her from behind and he stood with her keeping her back to him. Normally if a blood doll had said no, they would find themselves flying across the room, as Shane’s temper exploded. This, was different.

He slowly raised both hands and placed them upon her shoulders, and started to knead them gently.

“You don’t wish to leave me?

His voice was again quiet, and this was so unlike the cocky D.A that everyone knew, including Carmen. Slowly his hands glided down her arms, and he enveloped her, bringing her back, so her back was against his chest. Shane brought his head down, and he started to brush his lips against her neck. He wasn’t trying to be sexual with her, this was something else entirely.

She heard his footsteps approach, but she still remained as she was.

His hands on her shoulders, kneading gently, almost caressingly.

“You don’t wish to leave me?” he asked in the quiet, sliding his hands down her arms and around her stomach so he could pull her back against him. Her body thrilled at the touch, her mind and thoughts calmed at his nearness.

His lips brushed against her neck, almost in comfort. She placed her hands over his on her stomach and repeated herself.

“No.” she stated in a softer tone. “I don’t want to leave you. In case you haven’t been taking notes…you’re a part of me now. I think it’s safe to say I’d probably die without you.” she admitted, almost in a teasing tone. But it was truth. She now depended on him for her survival in this new world.

Plus there was the fact there was still a pretty huge reward for her capture. His fault, of course.

“You’ve challenged me like no other. I would hate to give up the battle before the war is won.”

Re: [RP] Shane’s House

Shane could not hide the smile, when she said that she didn’t want to leave him. She was as much now a part of him, as he was of her. They had shared each other’s blood, coupled as lovers, and even professed their love. The problem was, in order for his plans to work, his extreme drive to hunt her down, had come at a high price. She was a fugitive, and wanted for the murder of Louisa.

Shane was of course rather crafty when it came to such things, and it wouldn’t be surprising to know, he already had that part figured out. Not ready to concede that hand just yet, he interlocked his fingers with hers.

“You’ve challenged me like no other. I would hate to give up the battle before the war is won.”

The battle was still on, and he was not about to dissappont, but someone was watching this scene, with anger fueled in her eyes.

“Why is she out of her cell?” It was Brandi…and she looked pissed.

Shane started to kiss Carmen’s head, as he held onto her tightly.

“Because…I desire her. Problem?”

This was like a red flag to a bull. She screamed at Carmen. “Get your claws off my Man!” She then ran at the pair, to attack Carmen.

It was a defining moment between them, suddenly interrupted by angered screeching. “Why is she out of her cell?” It was Brandi…and she was pissed. Carmen felt Shane’s arms tight about her and a kiss was pressed to her head. She couldn’t see Shane’s face, but whatever expression it held seemed to annoy Brandi further.

“Because…I desire her. Problem?” His chest rumbled against her back as he spoke. Carmen wasn’t paying attention to him. Her whole focus was on Brandi and her instincts were screaming that this woman was a threat. There was no time to analize the feeling for it was then that Brandi ran straight for her.

“Get your claws off my Man!” Brandi yelled, arms and hands extended as she made to attack Carmen.

Carmen, going on an instinct she didn’t understand as yet, removed herself from Shane’s arms at an inhuman speed, darting forward to meet Brandi with a palm flat to the other woman’s chest. Brandi flew backward and crashed into the wall, leaving a person-sized dent in the concrete. Carmen hunched down, hissing and spitting like a wounded cat, fangs extended as she stared at Brandi.

Re: [RP] Shane’s House

The power and inhuman speed of Carmen was a shock to both Brandi and Shane Brandi taking the full brunt of Carmen’s defensive attack, her palm flying out and jettisoning the woman into the far opposite wall. She landed so heavily, that she actually made an indentation of the outline of her body. With broken bones, and possible internal injuries, Brandi screamed in pain as she tried to rise up again. Collapsing back down in a heap, she wailed at Shane.

“You love me!”

At this Shane simply shook his head.

“I’ve only ever loved one. And she just kicked your ass.” Brandi was shocked, blood pouring out of her mouth, the scent of which would cause both Shane and Carmen possibly to have their need to feed increased. Carmen was hissing and spitting at the girl, like a crazed animal, and Shane knew exactly what to do. Coming up behind her, his own face the mask of the Vampire, he grinned maliciously.

“I think its time to say goodnight to Brandi, Love. Don’t you?” Shane said, his voice having a delicious growl to it. He then strode over to Brandi and picked her up by her hair, holding her out like bait to Carmen. His eyes were eager to see her do what came naturally.
