Sam raised his glass to Dominique, showing a friendly smile, as he lent against the bar, clearly enjoying his conversation with Damion. He could see that the young Marulo wanted to go home, having danced all night, and not found anyone that met her tastes. These events were very much hit and miss affairs, especially when sober. If drunk…you would find yourself waking up to a disaster..possibly.

Sam kept quiet, sipping his drink as the twins conversed, and then when Damion asked if he would like another drink, his shout, Sam set down his empty glass and smirked. “Talk about timing. I’d love another.” His voice was warm and pleasant, and the young man was not shy at all in his behavior around Damion. Watching Dominique walk away, Sam had to comment.“She’s a doll, I’ll grant you that. If I was into dames, she’d be at the top of my dance card.”

That was putting his cards out on the table. Though homosexuality was frowned upon, there was a very large underground culture, and Sam was one of the generation’s leaders of that scene. He also knew how to be discreet.

“Talk about timing. I’d love another.”

Grinning, Damion signaled the waiter for two more drinks and laid down some bills when they arrived.

They watched Dominique head out and Sam commented on his sister.

“She’s a doll, I’ll grant you that. If I was into dames, she’d be at the top of my dance card.”

“Hmm…my sister is like our mother in that regard. Only a certain type can catch her. She has yet to find that. Our kind…mate for life. It’s our way.” he explained…without really explaining. “We have no issues with…sam sex couples.” He felt a strange pulse of heat in his face as he said that and wondered about it for a quick moment before he reached for his drink and took a larg gulp.

Sam nodded appropriately when Damion explained how the mating rites worked for the females of their kind. In fact, Sam was keenly interested in this. Only a certain type would fit the bill, and in a way, Sam felt the same way himself. He had had many lovers, but none had kept his interest for terribly long, that and the stigma of being gay was very strong.

But when Damion mentioned that they had no issues with same sex couples, the right corner of Sam’s lips twitched, then formed into a smile that grew as Damion blushed, and then took a large gulp of his drink.

Sam slapped his hand on Damion’s back and said. “Woah woah, slow down. Keep that up and you will be anybody’s by the end of the night.” Course there was a tiny hint in there, that Sam hoped it would be him.

“Woah woah, slow down. Keep that up and you will be anybody’s by the end of the night.”

Damion nearly choked on his drink at those words.

He laughed, nervously. But his face was flush and his pupils were dialated. He picked up a napkin to wipe his suddenly-sweaty brow.

“Is it warm in here? I think it’s warm in here. Can we go outside for a moment and get some air?” he wondered, getting quickly to his feet and moving toward the balcony doors before Sam could formulate a reply.

It wasn’t warm at the bar, but a certain heat was getting to Damion, and that was most likely coming from the attention he was getting from Sam. His next sentence was said in a rush, and he got to his feet smartly, before darting out the balcony doors, like a jack rabbit. Sam set down his glass, and winked at the bar tender, before strolling out after Damion, with his head held high. Seemed like the chase was on, and Sam was following all the way.

Reaching outside, many couples were off in the bushes, by the pool, few noticed anything apart from the fireworks and the dazzling lights that lit up the night. Sam came up behind Damion, and reached around to place his hand over his. He had a certain way of making men feel at ease, and his scent was intoxicating.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” He said in a husky voice, before drawing closer to Damion’s back.

High over the gardens of the estate, an elaborate fireworks display was going off, captivating anyone who was watching with the many colors and patterns exploding in the night sky.

Damion noticed none of this as he was trying to damp down the fireworks raging in his own body. He could not explain what he was feeling at the moment, but he knew he was a step away from a state of arousal he’d never experienced before in his life.

He took some deep breaths, allowing the cool night air to brush across his flushed skin.

“What is wrong with me?” he thought to himself.

He heard footsteps behind him before an intoxicating scent brushed across his senses. His wolf whined and he bit his lip until he nearly drew blood.. He felt a presence behind him just a second before Sam’s hand came down upon his own. He nearly jumped out of his skin at the contact.

Sam was standing at his back and Damion found it hard to breathe.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Sam’s voice was husky and Damion wanted the floor to open up and swallow him whole. The heat of Sam’s body was nearly flush against his back and Damion gulped.

“Uh…yeah…it is.” Damion murmured, not even daring to turn around. He was effectively trapped with the balcony railing in front of him and Sam’s body behind him. An odd sound issued from his mouth, almost like a whimper and his face flamed in embarrassment.

“I did not just do that out loud!” his mind yelled at him.

Isabella listened to him as he began to explain the events from earlier. Slowly, her brows creased with worry. She stayed silent until he finished, just letting his words sink into her. Hearing how Elvira thought Bart hated her, and knowing how far from the truth that was pained her. When he did finish speaking, she stayed silent for a long moment, allowing her mind to sort through everything.

“I love you, Bart. Thank you for telling me all of this – I am glad that you did choose to do so.” Her lips curved upwards slightly, in an attempt at a smile as she continued on. “I can’t say that I know how it feels, to be at odds with a sibling… but if I may, then perhaps it is a good idea to try to talk it out with her again at a later point. You and she always used to get along so well – I would hate to see your relationship end up in shambles. Try to give her some time to get used to the fact that you’re here. I imagine it would be a bit overwhelming for her to see you so suddenly after so many years. We can’t expect things to go back to how they used to be before all of this happened.”

Reaching down, she took his hand gently. “Whatever you do decide to do, though, I will be with you every step of the way. Though I don’t think that your sister likes me very much, so I probably won’t do any talking.” She joked lightly, trying to lighten his mood at least a little.

[sorry about there being no pic, I couldn’t find a serious one of her >:@]

Damion’s voice sounded so timid, and it was as though he was not used to such attentions, especially from a male. A male like Sam. Sam could only smile to himself, as he pulled back from Damion. The whimper sound was endearing, but he didn’t want to have the guy think he was going to attack him out on the balcony like some frenzied stalker. He was better than that. Sam jammed his hands into his pockets, and watched the fireworks blaze into the night sky, illuminating his face. He glanced at Damion again. What a fine specimen he was, but he clearly was not ready for him.

“I had a great time tonight, Damion. Perhaps we will meet again some day.”

That said, he turned on his heel, and headed for the door to go back inside the hall, and head out to the entrance, where he would get his car brought back around to him, to head home for the evening.

When Sam backed away, Damion didn’t know whether to sigh with relief or moan with disappointment. He was so confused.

“I had a great time tonight, Damion. Perhaps we will meet again some day.”

Damion turned around to reply, but Sam was walking away. A tiny nugget of guilt lodged in his stomach and he sighed.

“Someday.” He murmured, thinking maybe he’d done something wrong. He found Sam to be a fascinating individual and he really hoped he got the chance to see him again.

He turned back to watch the fireworks for a few more minutes before he himself decided to head home. He noticed their family driver hadn’t returned yet and decided it was a nice night for a walk. It would give him the chance to sort his thoughts.

At first Rupert had a quizzical look upon his face when Genny said sadly “I don’t believe that is a good idea.” Was it something he did or said? Rupert thought the dance was going well, but the young lady must have had her reasons. Naturally he responded kindly, and took her rejection well.

“I understand of course. It has indeed been an honor to have this dance, Miss Bianchi.”

Rupert pulled back and then bowed gently, before leaving the dance floor. Watched by many as he did so, due to the fact he was Rupert Dangerfield, the holder of the lavish party. Madeline witnessed what had happened, and furrowed her brow, wondering if perhaps Rupert had offended her, but as she could not possibly have heard any exchange, only her thoughts could stab at guesses.

“And she seemed so nice too.” Maddy thought, as she went to wish some of her society friends a good night.

Genevieve looked at Rupert in wonder. He was taking her rejection in stride. Nodding once as he thanked her for the dance, she turned to watch him go. He was such a peculiar man and didn’t seem ruffled in the slightest by her rejection. How peculiar. A small smile curled her lips as she watched him go. To say there was no attraction to him would be a lie. But this was a dangerous world, and it was filled with dangerous creatures. It was best to be left alone.

Turning to look at the other guests, she offered a weak smile. They all seemed fascinated by what was happening between the allusive Rupert and the singer.

But that was all that Genny was. A singer and a dancer. To try and entertain that she could be with a man like Rupert was ridiculous. No one knew her secrets. Turning around, she still couldn’t help the smile that was on her face as she began to walk out of the estate. It truly would be a night to remember.

Many patrons were now getting ready to leave the ball, as the last of the fireworks were going off, and Rupert with Madeline, were saying good evening to their lingering guests. Bart who had been on his knees this whole time, smirked at Isabella, who had been kind to listen to his reasons for why things didn’t go well that night with Elvira. The fact Isabella thought that Elvira didn’t like her, had him swat the air, like at an imaginary moth.

“I..really wouldn’t worry about what she thinks. Eh…let her. All I know, is that she is missing out on knowing a great girl.” Bart said, kissing her nose, before rising to stand. He could hear the place was emptying and winked at Isabella. “Why is it we are the last to arrive…and then the party shuts down not long after. My luck, huh?” He extended his hand to her, and now with her wearing his ring, he was more than ready to take her back to the Waldorf hotel, to enjoy the rest of the evening, possibly a night cap, and a roll in the sheets.

“My darling…if you would like to head out now, we can head back to our hotel. I am dying to try their room service.”He did have a habit for ordering all kinds of food at odd hours. Escorting her out, they would head for the exit, passing Rupert and Madeline, who both wished them a good night.

“I wonder if they do bangers and mash.”
