And what a sight it was, staring up Vincent could see the silhouette of Carmen naked in the window and illuminated by her lamp. No wonder Shane kept this one so close to him, and now Vincent could see why. He grinned slyly, and went back to waiting, for surely on a night such as this, she would enjoy the cool and refreshing waters of the luxury pool.

She emerged from the house, in a two piece bikini, and without checking to see if there was someone there, Carmen performed the perfect dive into the blue waters, only emerging to start doing laps of the pool. Back and forth she went, gracefully causing light ripples along the water’s edge. Vincent then took it upon himself, to strip off his shirt, and pants, before taking a running leap and diving without a splash into the waters, swimming up to her from beneath, and then like a great white, he came up and reached to grab her by the calf, and drag her under the waters.

Carmen was enjoying her moonlight swim. For once there wasn’t anyone bothering her about one thing or another and it was rare when she enjoyed a moment of solitude such as this.

She really didn’t expect to be attacked while swimming and certainly not in her own pool. Something snagged around her ankle and dragged her beneath the water. She struggled in shock for a moment before she kicked out at whatever it was, hoping to connect with solid flesh before she swam back to the surface. She made for the ladder at the side of the pool and quickly hauled herself out. She went for her towel, and her phone sitting on top of it, thinking of calling 911 and Shane, clutching the towel to her body like a shield.

“Who’s there?” she demanded, seeing a dark shape in the underwater lights of the pool. Her fingers was poised over the number 1 on her phone, ready to call Shane.

The Pool

Whatever it was at the bottom of the pool, it was the size of a man, and it didn’t come up for air, or even cause any air bubbles. It just swam around and around, while Carmen was clutching her phone, with her finger poised over the number one button on her phone.

“Who’s there?” She called out, clearly scared out of her mind as to what or who it could be.

Slowly, the creature came to the surface, then climbed up the ladder, dripping and smiling as he looked over Carmen in her tiny bikini.

“Did I scare you, Carmen? I thought it was just a bit of fun.” Vincent stepped out fully from the pool, and started to walk towards her, as she continued to have her finger poised over the call button.

“Going to call Shane? You can try, but I don’t think he is going to be able to hear from you. I….took care of that.”Vincent was getting incredibly close, and then you could see the elongated fangs emerging from his parted lips.

“Fraid, I lied before, Carmen. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Vincent.”

The words would have sent her blood cold, if it wasn’t already. He moved with super speed, to knock the phone from her hand.

“Did I scare you, Carmen? I thought it was just a bit of fun.” The man she knew as Richard climbed from the pool and slowly sauntered toward her.

“Richard! What are you doing here? How did you know where I lived?” she scowled. This was beginning to border on creepy and her finger slowly inched toward the button on her phone. He didn’t answer her inquiry, the grin on his face morphing into something more sinister. He glanced at the phone in her hand and his next words made the blood running through her veins run cold in fear.

“Going to call Shane? You can try, but I don’t think he is going to be able to hear from you. I….took care of that.” He was nearly upon her and she could make out the gleam of fangs poking from beneath his lips.

“What are you talking about? How do you know Shane? Who are you?” she demanded, as she slowly began inching toward the door leading back into the house. “Richard” shrugged his shoulders before grinning at her fully.

“Fraid, I lied before, Carmen. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Vincent.”

Carmen’s fear was absolute. This was the mysterious Vincent…and she was alone. He moved toward her, lightning quick and knocked the phone from her hand. It flew across the patio and smashed into the wall, mechanical parts flying every direction. He was too close for her to start running, so she did the next best thing…she ducked.

The Pool area

As Vincent was about to reach for Carmen’s throat, she ducked down out of the way, since she couldn’t run from him and this caused his fist to hit the wall of the house. Smashing fragments that rained down and angered him.

“Bitch!” He roared, and then he could sense her fear. Oh it was positively oozing out of her, and this was when he had a diabolical idea.

“You are all alone, Carmen. You can’t outrun me. I am far stronger than you can possibly imagine, and when I want something, I usually get it.” Vincent urged, with a crooked smile.

She had tried to cover herself, and he knelt down and tapped her shoulder.

When he tapped her shoulder, she was ready. She hadn’t been idle while his fist smashed into the wall of the house. She turned, her enhanced speed lending her the extra she needed to fight back. Lightning arched between her fingers and she balled her fist behind her. As she turned, her arm came around and she released the ball of energy straight at him, hoping to blast him away from her while she ran for the open door. If she could get inside and close the door, she would be safe.

Where the hell was Shane?

The lightening charged fist made contact and she used this ball of energy to be released into the Elder vampire, blasting him off his feet and well enough away to allow her a chance to make a dash for an open door. Vincent made a god awful howling sound and then got to his feet, as she would be on the other side of the glass sliding door. Vincent stared at her as she clearly frightened out of her mind.

“Invite me in, Carmen. You know you want too.”

Vincent said, staring her down with piercing blue eyes. He didn’t look to be leaving in a hurry, and then smashed his fist against the glass in a fit of rage.

“INVITE ME IN!” He repeated himself, then started to pace back and forth, scowling at her. “I am warning you now…everything you care about…will be destroyed, now..all you have to do…is…INVITE..ME…IN!”

Oh was he in a rage as she slammed the patio door closed. She backed into the counter behind her, clutching a fist to her chest as he howled and raged on the opposite side of the glass, demanding for her to let him in.

“Fuck you!” she yelled back as he smashed his fist against the glass. She was never so thankful to Shane for reinforcing the windows. Vincent’s rage barely made a scratch on the glass. He paced back and forth, snarling at her, blue eyes glowing with an unholy light.

“I am warning you now…everything you care about…will be destroyed, now..all you have to do…is…INVITE..ME…IN!”

“No! Get out of here! You are not welcome upon these lands!” she snarled in return.«”Shane, where the hell are you?!”» she screamed out in her mind, praying that he was all right.

It was in that moment that she heard a car pull into the driveway and youthful voices arguing about something. Jarvis and the girls had returned.

Eyes wide, Carmen whipped her head around to the front door, losing sight of Vincent for the moment. Realising what she’d just done, she turned back to the window…

Outside Shane’s house

The sound of the kid’s car pulling up was also heard by Vincent, who had turned into his full vampire form and was bashing wildly at the back glass door. Carmen turned her back to look towards the front door, when the youthful voices arguing were getting closer to the house. Screeching insanely, Vincent took off into the sky, like an enormous bat, and left behind his clothing on the back porch.

Jarvis was just about to put the key into the front door, when Bianca heard the loud screech.“What the hell was that?” Misty shrugged her shoulders and said. “Really angry buzzards?” Jarvis then continued to turn the key in the lock and opened the front door, unaware, that Carmen was in the kitchen and frightened out of her mind.

“Anyone home?” Jarvis sang out, since all the lights in the house seemed to be off.

“That’s weird, I would have thought at least Carmen would be home.”
